From the Music Director
Welcome to calphil.org!
We are excited to celebrate the 11th anniversary of the California Philharmonic, having grown from a summer festival to three full orchestra and two chamber music concert series, making us one of the most successful year-round orchestras in California. This is our fourth season at the Ambassador Auditorium, the newly reopened “Carnegie Hall of the West.” We are also pleased to present the hugely popular Cal Phil Music, Martinis and the Maestro series at the historical Green Hotel in downtown Pasadena.
For this summer’s Cal Phil Festival on the Green we will once again perform six subscription concerts at the beautiful Los Angeles County Arboretum and Botanic Garden, encoring five of the programs at the Walt Disney Concert Hall in the fourth year of our exciting Cal Phil at Walt Disney Concert Hall series. I’d like to thank all of the Los Angeles County officials whose efforts have been instrumental in helping us provide such magnificent venues for our music.
Additionally, we’ve been hard at work making lots of improvements behind the scenes to enhance your concert-going experience. Of course, all of these efforts are in support of what our concerts are really about—the music. As always, we are devoting our time, effort and love to bring you the finest concerts and the best artists possible.
None of this would be possible without exceptional devotion and commitment from Cal Phil’s dedicated music lovers. Strong fundraising—including our annual campaigns and our Wine and Strings Fundraiser—volunteer work and ticket sales all contribute to this orchestra’s continued health and longevity. So to our board, our staff, our musicians, our volunteers and you, our audience, thank you for all your support. I hope you continue to be part of our Cal Phil family.
