The California Philharmonic is a music lover’s dream. Only a glimmer in the eye of Maestro Victor Vener a few short ten years ago, the Orchestra has grown up to take its rightful place as a leader and innovator in the cultural landscape of Los Angeles County. Timeless music performed by world-renowned musicians deftly led with a passion and energy unique to Maestro Vener is the delightful fare that awaits you at each concert.
Maestro Vener has electrified audiences in the United States, Europe and Asia, conducting exciting performances of a wide range of repertoire with his unusual blend of outstanding musicianship and personalized audience engagement. The California Philharmonic is recognized for its high-quality professional performances of music by notable composers from the diverse genres of jazz, pops, Broadway and opera. Also, with a strong commitment to new music and to expanding the symphonic repertoire, the Orchestra has presented eight world premieres and four Southern California premieres of orchestral works and three world premieres of chamber works.
The California Philharmonic performs at five wonderful venues located in the greater Los Angeles and Pasadena areas. This incredibly beautiful oasis surrounded by mountains sits at the edge of the North American continent and is home to a vast array of cultural activities, impressive architecture, breathtaking gardens, cosmopolitan restaurants and friendly locals.
Ever mindful of the importance of community, the California Philharmonic directors, staff and volunteers all believe in reaching out and giving back to the members of society who need and want a cultural organization that is not elitist and patronizing, but inclusive and welcoming. Free community outreach programs such as Cal Phil Family Night and Sounds Fun: Concert Experience for Young Minds complement the different concert series and fulfill that need.
We invite you to enjoy the California Philharmonic experience. Sit under a canopy of summer stars in a tree-lined meadow. Marvel at the acoustics and architecture of world-class concert halls, or enjoy the enchanting atmosphere of an historic ballroom. Whether it’s Cal Phil Festival on the Green, Cal Phil at Walt Disney Concert Hall, Cal Phil at The Mill, Cal Phil at The Ambassador or Cal Phil Music, Martinis and The Maestro, you will love the music, revel in the atmosphere and live a music lover’s dream.
