Young Talent
Great Honor
Each year, the California Philharmonic honors an emerging young artist who has demonstrated talent beyond their years by featuring him or her as a soloist with the orchestra. For the honoree, the endorsement of his or her exceptional talent by Cal Phil is not only a major achievement, but also has provided a springboard for the careers of many of the Young Artist Award recipients.
Music lovers everywhere benefit from the introduction to the music making of a rising star. All of the award recipients have had great achievements making solo appearances, performing as concertmaster with major orchestras, and distinguishing themselves with further music studies. They have garnered other prestigious awards and prizes and been featured as solo artists in internationally distributed music recordings.
The 2012 Young Artist Award recipients are soprano Emily Dyer, mezzo-soprano Danelle Marcelle Bond, tenor Ashley Faatoalia and baritone Ben Lowe.
All four 2012 recipients will be performing as soloists for Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 during our season finale, Beethoven & John Williams, on August 25 & 26. For more information about the soloists, see our press page.
