Early Promise, Lasting Acclaim:
Meet baritone Kevin Earley

Baritone Kevin Earley knew at an early age – pun notwithstanding – that he wanted to be a performer. But as the youngest son of the Artistic Director of the Marriott Lincolnshire Theater in Chicago, he never was cast for a role unless he was “twice as good as the next guy” auditioning. Having to meet such high standards paid off, however. While working in Chicago, Kevin received the Joseph Jefferson Award for the Balladeer in Sondheim’s Assassins, the B. Iden Payen Award for Curly in Rodger and Hammerstein’s Oklahoma and three coveted Robby Awards.

On Broadway, Kevin has appeared in productions of Thoroughly Modern Millie as well as the Broadway and National Touring Companies of Les Miserables. He also performed at the Hollywood Bowl with the Los Angeles Philharmonic as Freddy in My Fair Lady, in the Quartet of The Music Man and as a Knight in Camelot. Of his performance in My Fair Lady, the LA Times wrote,   "He delivered with such power that he set the Bowl's amplification system buzzing and crackling.”

Kevin’s debut CD “Earley Standards” – featuring classics from such composers as Cole Porter, Duke Ellington and George and Ira Gershwin – has garnered equal praise. "Kevin Earley's debut album is one you can listen to over and over again,” raved LA Stage Magazine.

For the past several years, Kevin’s involvement in the Los Angeles theater community has steadily increased. He received Ovation Nominations for the World Premieres of Can-Can (Re-envisioned) at the Pasadena Playhouse and Sleeping Beauty Wakes at the Kirk Douglas Theatre (Center Theatre Group), as well as the Los Angeles Premieres of It Came From Beyond at the Write Act Theater and Side Show at The Colony Theatre Company. Kevin also portrayed Ramases – taking on Val Kilmer as Moses – in the highly publicized production of The Ten Commandments at the Kodak Theater.

In addition, Kevin appeared in Titanic and Carousel at the CLO South Bay, in Spitfire Grill and Enter the Guardsmen at the Laguna Playhouse; in My Way and Johnny Guitar at the La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts, and in Anything Goes, Guys and Dolls and I Love a Piano at Musical Theater West. He also performed in seven shows produced by LA Reprise! These include City of Angels, Applause, New Brain, Assassins, Follies, Most Happy Fella and 1776, for which Kevin won the LA Drama Critic’s Circle Award.

A devoted member of the Musical Theater Guild, which is dedicated to performing new and rediscovered musicals, Kevin frequently participates in such fundraising events as “the Easter Bonnet Competition” and “Gypsy of the Year Competition” for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. He also donates his time and considerable talents to benefiting “Salon at the Taper,” “The Actors Fund” and “The William Holden Wildlife Foundation.”

Kevin is a graduate from Webster Conservatory in St. Louis where he earned his B.F.A. and encountered his best friend and wife, Julie Ann Emery.
